In an ambitious move to bridge tradition with technology, the Rizarios Foundation is stepping into the digital era, aiming to introduce its rich cultural and historical essence to new audiences worldwide. By digitizing its extensive archive, we've not only preserved invaluable documents, personal correspondences of the Rizari brothers, and interactions with the Filiki Etaireia but also highlighted unique collections such as the herbs of Zagori and rare palaeotypes. This monumental task involved creating a sophisticated search engine, allowing for easier access and exploration of these treasures.
Building on this digitized foundation, we've developed a range of digital initiatives to further educate and engage. From e-learning materials that draw upon the archive's content to a new portal designed for immersive exploration, the project extends its reach beyond traditional boundaries. Notably, our innovative applications use augmented reality (AR) to bring the Vikos herbs to life, architectural apps that delve into the distinct Zagorian architecture, and immersive experiences focused on preserving the traditional loom techniques of Zagori. These endeavors are in line with the vision of Manthos and Georgios Rizaris, aiming to safeguard the rich traditions of their homeland.
The Rizarios Foundation, acting as a vital National Endowment, plays a pivotal role in promoting the cultural and historical heritage of Monodendri, the broader region, and Greece as a whole. By supporting local communities and adhering to the founders' vision, the foundation not only honors its rich legacy but also ensures its vibrant continuation for future generations. Through these digital initiatives, we celebrate and perpetuate the profound cultural heritage of Greece, making it accessible to a global audience and securing its place in the digital future.
